About the Role:

Ever thought about branching out in to building inspecting? If you are an energetic and experienced individual who’s been hoping for an opportunity to support development within the beautiful district of Taupō, here’s your chance to work for local government within the construction environment? Building is booming, but it’s not without its challenges e.g., material shortages, project expectations & COVID. This role in Taupō District Council’s busy Building Team will provide a rewarding career and the chance to really make your mark on the shape of the District.

As a Building Management Officer, you will work collaboratively with the community to conduct building inspections and ensure compliance with relevant codes & legislation. You’ll proactively seek solutions to the challenges facing today’s construction industry & seek the best practical outcomes within the fold of a supportive, high performing team of experts.

In a typical day you can expect to;

  • Undertake scheduled building inspections to ensure building work complies with the approved consent
  • Determine, document, & record outcomes, and generate inspection reports
  • Review technical information and issue Code Compliance Certificates
  • Provide professional, high-quality support for the industry
  • Collaborate with the team to share expertise and achieve positive results

About You:

Our team is guided by the values of working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for the communities we serve. As well as sharing that drive, you will have;

  • An excellent understanding of the construction industry and knowledge of Building Legislation backed by at least 2 years of experience in a relevant field
  • A NZ Diploma in a similar field e.g., building control, architecture, construction management and/or a relevant Trade Certificate
  • Previous experience in a BCA team or similar (ideally)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A professional and approachable manner.
