Testimonials
Bruce Symon, Realsure, Director
Working within the pre-purchase house inspection area requires skill sets of a building surveyor plus an unwavering commitment to the New Zealand residential property inspection standard. All of our inspection staff are accredited building surveyors and anything less fails the expectations of the general public who are selling and buying their greatest asset. We use the Institute's Training Academy to meet the requirements of the Accredited Building Surveyors programme.
Phil Saunders, Building Manager, Hamilton City Council
Having appropriately trained staff is essential to the effective functionality of a Building Control Authority. As manager of a significant building surveying team, there is no room for underinvestment in the training of my staff; the risks are too great. The Training Academy is the preeminent deliverer of training to building surveyors. Their investment and range of quality courses is not matched by any other provider.
Peter Laurenson, Queenstown Lakes District Council, Building Services Manager & Southern Building Controls Group (SBCG) - Chairman
Some years ago the SBCG cluster recognised the advantages of pooling their training needs to achieve cost effective delivery over our wide geographic territory. The cluster now works closely with the Training Academy staff to bring courses to the Southern area that benefit all cluster councils and their staff. We have experienced huge efficiency in getting the trainer to come to us, allowing a greater number of building control officers to attend courses together, and the flow on effect of discussions and learning back in the office is impressive
Robert Tierney, Holmes Farsight
With a background in building surveying, my membership of the Institute has brought many advantages to me career wise and as a result to the built sector. There are times in one's career where you want to share knowledge and skills. The opportunity to facilitate a range of Training Academy courses was too good to pass up. Apart from being enjoyable, seeing my fellow peers grow and gain from their training knowledge is a reward for me.
Graham Hunt, MiTek New Zealand
Our relationship with the Institute goes back many years. In more recent years we have been delighted to partner with a progressive and professional training provider. Both our organisations are committed to raising the skill sets and knowledge within the built environment. As a vehicle the Training Academy ensures this objective is met.
Mike Davies, Manukau Building Consultants
As a localised and independent building surveying company, we rely heavily on the assurance that our staff are trained and aware of compliance requirements. The Institute's Training Academy has provided our organisation and its staff with high quality courses.
Phil Ker, Otago Polytechnic, Chief Executive
Otago Polytechnic and its prior learning assessment arm Capable New Zealand have had a long and enduring relationship with the Building Officials Institute. Collectively, our two organisations have driven the development of the National Diplomas in Building Control Surveying and the associated course work. When one considers the small size of the building surveying sector, achieving this goal has been no small feat. The commitment of the Institute's Training Academy to professionalising the building surveying sector is to be admired. We look forward to continuing our relationship in the years ahead.
