Taitara Mahi – Building Officer
Permanent full-time
Hastings District Council is seeking applications for a permanent full-time Building Officer to join their team in the Planning and Regulatory Group.
This role involves processing building consent applications and completing building inspections during the course of construction.
The preferred candidate will have:
An appropriate qualification in building or design, or a related field that will be recognized by Regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006, or is prepared to work towards an appropriate qualification
Technical competency under the national competency assessment criteria for Building Officers
Training and practical industry experience in construction, building design, building surveying or inspection
Ability to assess building/construction plans to ensure compliance with the New Zealand building code
Well-developed written and oral communication skills, and advanced computer skills
An excellent customer service focus
Applicants that do not hold an appropriate qualification may be considered for this position on the basis that you will be prepared to enroll in a programme of study for an appropriate diploma level qualification. This will require you to be bonded to Hastings District Council for at least three years.
