Te wero – The Challenge

We are experiencing an increase in development within the Far North region and are looking for two Building Control Officers within our Building Inspections Team to assess applications against the building code before we issue a building consent. This is a busy role where you will be working alongside a large team of Officers.

This position has been assessed as high risk using the WorkSafe COVID risk assessment criteria and for Health and Safety reasons the successful incumbent will be required to provide a COVID-19 My Vaccine Pass as part of pre-employment processes.

I ā koe - About You

We need someone who can work independently and who has the necessary attributes to process applications and inspect.

You’ll ideally have:

• Qualifications and/or Experience in building, construction, design

• Previous Local Government experience in the application of the requirements of the NZ Building Act 2004 and knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991, with a focus on assessment of building design and inspection processes.

• Good level of computer literacy.

• Ability to implement and use the guidance information in quality assurance procedure and policies documentation that form part of Councils accreditation as a Building Consent Authority.

• A can-do attitude and a desire to learn You’ll be adept at using technology, pick up new systems quickly and be highly organised.

The ability to meet deadlines and timeframes comes naturally to you, with a focus on the solution, not the problem.

The salary for this position is Grade 14 within Council's salary structure ($64,962 - $76,426) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver. We offer you flexible work arrangements and the chance to enjoy the lifestyle and beauty only the Far North region can provide.
