He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Building Consents department ensures buildings are safe for the people living and working in Auckland. We have a strong focus on customer service whilst providing high quality compliance assessments of building designs for a wide range of residential, commercial and industrial buildings. We are recruiting for several processing roles based in various locations across Auckland within the Project Assessment team.
You will provide our customers with timely and accurate building and development related information as well as advice and consents. You will be responsible for ensuring building consent applications submitted are compliant with the performance requirements of the New Zealand Building Code, the Building Act and other relevant legislation before the consents are issued. Case management of customer's applications and assisting in increasing customer understanding of regulatory controls is a key attribute of this role. You will also be guiding and providing advice to customers on the appropriate application process as and when required.

We are looking for motivated people with a desire to approach your work with care, attention and passion for excellent results.  You will pride yourself on providing your customers (internal and external) with a professional and timely service. We are looking for candidates who have the right attitude, all round knowledge and who want to expand upon their current experience. Ideally, you will possess a relevant Building Construction, Engineering or Architectural design qualification, which meets our accreditation requirements, or have proven experience working in the building construction industry or for an architectural/design team.  You will need to demonstrate an aptitude for continuous learning as our industry constantly changes with legislation, product innovation, and changing methods of construction. You need to be able to solve problems, suggest business improvements, and work as a constructive team member.
