About the role

In this role you will work as part of the building control team to provide high quality advice and information to our customers.  You will be responsible issuing building related regulatory approvals including consenting, inspections and code compliance certificates.

You will ensure that Grey District Council meets its obligations in terms of administering the Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code, and other associated statutes.

You will work to ensure that all building work undertaken within the district is to a standard which is safe, sanitary and fit for purpose.

 

About you

Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative style are key to this role. You will have the ability to problem solve and effectively convey information to the public.  You are proactive, able to act impartially, have a positive attitude and you’re an innovative thinker. 

In addition, you will have:

  • NZ Diploma (or working towards) in a relevant field - Building Control Surveying, Architecture, Construction Management, or building science, Trade cert in Building/Plumbing/ Drainlaying/ Gasfitting.
  • Sound administration skills and experience in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ideally you will come with Residential 2 and Commercial 2 Competency in National Competency Framework
  • A full drivers licence.
