Building Consent Approvals Ltd (BCAL) is on the cusp of becoming New Zealand’s first Accredited and truly independent Building Consent Authority. As we establish our national footprint, we’re looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to lead and continuously evolve our quality system and ensure we remain ahead of the curve in delivering exceptional client outcomes with robust regulatory compliance.

This is a key leadership role, focused on ensuring the integrity of BCAL’s Quality Assurance Manual, maintaining IANZ accreditation, and driving a culture of continuous improvement across the business. If you are detail-driven, collaborative, and deeply committed to service quality and operational excellence, this could be the role for you.

See https://bcapprovals.nz/bcapprovals-careers/ for more information and how to apply.

WHO ARE WE?

BCAL is New Zealand’s first truly independent and nationally Accredited Building Consent Authority. We’ve worked closely with MBIE to develop a high-performing, fit-for-purpose organisation that redefines what excellence looks like in building control.

We are committed to delivering timely, accurate, and cost-effective services to our clients, while maintaining full compliance with the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006. We’ve designed our systems and KPIs to ensure we can consistently meet and exceed expectations.

At BCAL, our people are our strength. We’re building a high-performing, collaborative, and fun team environment that puts people and partnerships first.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Quality Assurance Manager, you will be the guardian of BCAL’s quality system. You’ll lead the implementation and management of our Quality Assurance Manual, ensure we meet all BCA accreditation and regulatory requirements, and guide the business through cycles of audit, review, and improvement.

You will:

· Ensure BCAL consistently complies with Building Act, Building Regulations, and IANZ accreditation requirements.

· Monitor, audit, and improve policies, procedures, and records in line with the Quality Assurance Manual and Quality Control Framework.

· Build and lead a continuous improvement culture across the organisation.

· Coordinate staff and contractor training to support consistent quality outcomes.

· Collaborate across internal teams and external partners, including MBIE and IANZ, to maintain trust and clarity in all quality-related matters.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our ideal team member will:

· Have deep experience in managing quality systems in a BCA or regulated environment.

· Be confident leading audits, working with IANZ, and managing accreditation requirements.

· Be an excellent communicator who can bring people on the journey and foster engagement in quality initiatives.

· Demonstrate strength in mentoring and coaching others.

· Thrive in a growth environment, with strong skills in continuous improvement, problem-solving, and digital systems.

· Bring a client-focused mindset and a genuine interest in helping shape the future of the industry.

WHAT WE OFFER

· A unique leadership role in a nationally significant organisation.

· A highly capable team who are passionate about doing things better.

· A flexible and supportive environment that values innovation, people, and performance.

· Professional development and the opportunity to influence national standards.

· A team culture built on trust, inclusion, and mutual respect.
