The Company: Co-Lab is equally owned by 12 councils across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. We collaborate with councils across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness as we: 

  • Act as an innovation hub for shared service opportunities.
  • Facilitate joint procurement arrangements.
  • Collaborate on shared services with councils.

 

The Role: As a Quality System Lead, you'll play an instrumental role with the Waikato Building Consent Group (WBCG), ensuring consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement in building control functions across eight council Building Consent Authorities (BCA's).

We have scoped this as a full-time role but as we pride ourselves on our flexible work environment, we will consider flexible working requests, including part-time. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the shared quality system across the WBCG councils.
  • Collaborate with BCA Managers on maintaining quality standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure effective follow-ups.
  • Review and maintain the WBCG Quality Manual, documents and website.
  • Engage with MBIE/IANZ on legislative changes and requirements.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Organise Quality Hub meetings and lead discussions on quality systems.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise BCAs and Territorial Authorities accordingly.
  • Manage the quality management system and tools for audits and assurance.
  • Deliver clear reports on quality across WBCG.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with BCA staff, stakeholders, and industry leaders.

 

A Bit About You:

As Quality System Lead working across several councils, you will exude the following attributes:

  • Ability to build rapport and work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Organised, systems-oriented with a passion for quality.
  • Proficient in document and process management.
  • Familiarity with the Building Act and associated regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Act and related regulations (Desirable).
  • Proficiency in document and process management.
  • Strong IT and systems skills.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2016 Quality management systems.
  • Proven auditing experience.

 

Location: Cambridge, with regular travel across the Waikato region.
