We have a rare and exciting opportunity for someone wanting to take the next step into a management role, as a Team Leader for Building Control in our regulatory services area.
You are preferably from a trade background - you understand the building industry and have experience in building control so it goes without saying that you understand the local regulations and standards. You'll have the ability to communicate with a wide range of people in the community and speak at all levels. You are great at conflict resolution, culturally sensitive and firm but fair. Importantly, you're ready to take the next step in your career, whilst making a difference in a proud community.
In this role, you'll be responsible for: • Leading a team of building control officers • Allocating work and conducting performance reviews • Mentoring and training your team • Responding to and resolving property related building complaints • Negotiating solutions to resolve conflicts and complex problems • Inspecting buildings to ensure that all works undertaken within the district are compliant To succeed, you'll need relevant qualifications to New Zealand Trade Certificate level and several years' experience in a regulatory inspection role. Some leadership experience is also preferred, but not essential.
