The ideal candidate is an experienced building surveying professional with 10+ years’ experience across the design, building and regulatory sectors. They will bring strong technical judgement, sound knowledge of building legislation and compliance, and clear communication skills.

They will be organised, proactive and confident working with senior leaders, councils, government agencies, technical specialists and sector stakeholders.

About the Job 

The Building Officials Institute of New Zealand (BOINZ) is seeking an Accreditation and Technical Manager to lead and grow the Accredited Building Surveyors programme and provide technical direction across the Institute’s work.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, this role supports BOINZ’s work to set standards, build capability and improve the quality of the built environment.

About the Role

You will manage, promote and improve the Accredited Building Surveyors programme, including training delivery, applications and renewals, audit moderation, facilitators, assessors, policies, CRM information and process improvements.

You will provide technical guidance on building legislation, regulatory change, training content, submissions, sector engagement, member communications, events and new programme opportunities.

What You Will Bring 

  • A recognised building surveying qualification, or equivalent relevant qualification and experience.
  • 10+ years' experience in the building, design, inspection, regulatory or building control sectors.
  • Expert knowledge of building surveying, the Building Code, building legislation, compliance pathways and regulatory processes. 
  • Experience working with councils, government agencies, industry groups or professional bodies. 
  • Excellent communication, organisation, relationship management and problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience in training, assessment, moderation, professional development or managing technical contributors would be an advantage.
