Our qualified Building Consent Officers and Building Inspection Officers work closely with councils, contractors, and homeowners to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient building outcomes. With decades of experience and strong industry networks, we provide cost-effective consent, inspection, training, and professional services across New Zealand.

About the Role

We’re looking for experienced Residential Building Consent and Building Inspection staff to join our Selwyn branch. If you’re competent in Residential Building Consent Processing or Residential Building Inspecting — or already dual-competent in Residential Processing and Inspections — we’d love to hear from you.

Our Selwyn based team will be supporting the Processing and Inspecting of Building Consents for Building Consent Approvals Ltd which is the first and only nationwide BCA.

The Selwyn based team will be focused on R1 to C1 consenting within the Canterbury wide region.

What You’ll Do

  • Assess, inspect, and process building consent applications in line with legislation and the Building Code
  • Provide clear, professional technical advice to homeowners, builders, and stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
  • Contribute to training, supervision, and team development to build technical capability
  • Ensure competency standards are maintained through regular assessments and CPD (Continued Professional Development)
  • Support continuous improvement in service delivery, systems, and processes.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Regulation 18-compliant qualification (as per MBIE guidance)
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Minimum 2 years’ current or recent experience in the building/construction industry across residential projects
  • Strong knowledge of the NZ Building Act, Building Code, and approved documents
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and Workflow systems)
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Experience with a Building Consent Authority (BCA) or similar organisation (desirable).

Why Join Us

Be part of a team that plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant buildings for our communities. At Solutions Team, you’ll enjoy a supportive, professional environment with access to training, CPD, and ongoing development opportunities.

We offer above market salaries and incentives for high performing staff.
