1. Hempcrete & Branching Out

Discover how hempcrete, a sustainable, low-density biocomposite building material, is gaining momentum both globally and in New Zealand. Used as an infill wall and insulation solution, hempcrete offers a high R-value while providing a suitable substrate for weatherproofing.
This presentation will explore how Taranaki has been building the knowledge, partnerships and infrastructure to support hemp construction, including the development of the Hemp Hub in North Taranaki. The Hemp Hub supplies materials and information while connecting those interested in hemp building.
The initiative is supported by Venture Taranaki's Branching Out programme, which focuses on enabling alternative land use and value chain development across the region. The Venture Taranaki team is keen to support anyone interested in exploring hemp fibre as a building material.
2. SaveBOARD

Learn how saveBOARD is helping build a circular economy by transforming composite packaging waste into innovative building products that re-enter the local supply chain, reducing landfill and eliminating future waste.
saveBOARD products are manufactured from everyday composite packaging materials, including aseptic (silver-lined) and gable-top milk cartons, soft plastics, and other poly-coated materials. Using only pressure, heat and time-without adding any new materials-saveBOARD gives packaging waste a second life as durable, sustainable building boards.
This presentation will explore the manufacturing process, the environmental benefits of circular construction materials, and how saveBOARD is contributing to more sustainable building practices in New Zealand.
