Kevin welcomed our new members: Kailing, Gregory, Greg, Paulina, Roy & Dario from Waipa District Council and Shazza from Matamata-Piako District Council
Board Representative Update:
Jeff Farrell, Whakatane District Council, was elected to the Board earlier this year.
Jeff provided an update from the Board.
- The first Board meeting was held the day before SBCO.
- There will be a strategic refresh of BOINZ vision and value statement over the next 9-12 months.
- Introducing climate change into BOINZ training for BCOs.
- Chairs to review presentations to ensure they are giving an indication as to how the product complies with the building code. If it is a sales pitch, then they should contribute to the Branch.
- A working group is to be set up within the Board to look at sponsorship and development framework for development opportunities for members
- The Board placed a submission on the ‘Granny Flats’ legislation after consultation on behalf of members. This can be found on the BOINZ website.
- The SBCO Forum this year was another great event.
If you have any issues that need to be dealt with at a national level, then reach out to Jeff.
Building Code Issues:
Nothing raised.
Guest Presentations:
Dave Gittings, MBIE

- Making it easier to build granny flats
Please see a copy of the full presentation here.
