Hasan thanked the presenters, and the floor is open for questions.
Q: At times we attend final inspections and you still see a membrane above ground level due to omission of ground level understanding, does the ground need to be cut back and have a new termination bar put on and cover it?
A: Often it will be left short yes, the ground level can change a few times if they are putting in ramps due to landscaping and finishing etc.
Q: Can membranes go over existing concrete?
A: Yes, but 100mm needs to be poured over the top of that. You lose height, and, in some cases, it is not legal to be able to do it. (Refer to page 24 of the presentation). For example, if you have a house built in the 1950s with a basement, it probably has flint coat remnants on the outside of the retaining wall. You can place the membrane on the inside of the existing structure and pour over the top of it.
Q: Is Voltex affected by additives?
A: No, the only thing that affects it is salination and some impurities within the substrates. There is a Voltex product with a DPM lining on the back. Also a Voltex product which has polymers which can contain and neutralise the saline in sea water. This is quite job specific, if you are near the sea you might use Voltex DSSWR. If it is under a slab which will be polished, we recommend it gets watered down first so the moisture in the concrete does not get sucked out.
Q: Is Allco’s product compatible with AT façade?
A: Yes, as it is bentonite based it does not get affected by any of those products.
