Rice Speir Building Changes Seminar 3: Proportionate liability

An overview of the planned new proportional liability settings. What do we know so far, and how is likely to operate in practice?

What might any caps on liability, in particular for councils, be?
What will it mean to building parties?
Will insurance products be available and be affordable?
Where will it leave the homeowner and subsequent purchasers if things go wrong, and building parties are insolvent or do not have adequate insurance?

This course will give a participant an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the compliance schedule regime, including how a compliance schedule should be prepared. The requirements around Warrants of Fitness and other documentation is provided, and an explanation of each specified system, and the inspection and maintenance regimes which ensure the safe operation of these systems.

This two subject one day course defines the specific technical requirements of the NZBC Clause D1 Access Routes and NZBC Clauses F1 - 4 Safety of Users.
