This 27 March Code Fit Team Talk is on Products and new compliance pathways. Code Fit Team Talks is a series of facilitated online presentation/discussions on a range of building surveying and controls topics, running 8am to 10am once a month from February to November.

Code Fit Fire Series - enrolment in this 2026 online series is now open

The Code Fit Fire series aims to increase knowledge and practice with Protection from Fire, focusing on C/AS2 and stepping learners through this Acceptable Solution and associated topics. The series also aims to increase confidence and ability to ask good questions. The series is led by Saskia Holditch of MBIE with input from other specialists.

Foundation Level - H1 Energy Efficiency - Online Zoom

This entry level course will provide an understanding of the mechanics of heat transfer and how to provide insulation of various types to ensure a building provides a safe and warm environment that is energy efficient and meets the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC). This course provides participants with the information to understand and explain: what is ethics; the six ethical lenses, preparation for ethical decisions; decide what’s right; testing ethical decisions; personal responsibility, and reflection.

This course provides participants with the information to understand and be able to explain the requirements in Building Code clauses G1 Personal Hygiene, G2 Laundering, G3 Food Preparation, G4 Ventilation, G7 Natural Light, G8 Artificial Light, G9 Electricity and E3 Internal Moisture.

This course can be used to demonstrate competency in Regulation 10(3)(c), 10(3)(d)(i) and 10(3)(d)(ii).

BWoF and Specified Systems - Rangiora - Face to Face

This course will give a participant an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the compliance schedule regime, including how a compliance schedule should be prepared. The requirements around Warrants of Fitness and other documentation is provided, and an explanation of each specified system, and the inspection and maintenance regimes which ensure the safe operation of these systems.

Clause D1 Access Routes/ TA016 Clause F1 Safety of Users - Online Zoom

22 April 2026 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

A must do and must understand two part course for all BCOs. This two subject one day course defines the specific technical requirements of the NZBC Clause D1 Access Routes and NZBC Clauses F1 - 4 Safety of Users. The course sets out the performance requirements and how to meet these to provide safe and accessible access routes and most importantly safeguard people from injury or illness.

Plumbing and drainage AS/NZS 3500.2 - Online zoom

13 May 2026 - 14 May 2026 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

This course covers AS/NZS 3500.2 and includes: refresher of the NZBC performance criteria for G13 Foul water; AS/NZS 3500.2 sanitary plumbing and drainage for up to 3 storeys (equates to the scope of G13/AS1); floor waste gullies; overflow relief gullies; 3500.2 underfloor drainage applications; gradients and venting; stacks: single stack - fully vented; mix and match with G13/AS1/AS2 and what this looks like. A residential focus with similarities/differences to commercial plumbing and drainage situations explained.

This comprehensive two-day workshop provides participants with a thorough understand of Fire Documents C/AS1 and C/AS2. Day two brings the learnings to life with a practical component. This is the next step in fire design looking at commercial building focusing on C/AS2 as the pathway to compliance and introduces C/VM2 and alternative solutions but not in detail.

As Near As Reasonably Practicable (ANARP) Workshop - Online Zoom

Through interaction and case study review, participants will develop the understanding and skills necessary to make decisions relating to 'upgrading of existing buildings, as nearly as is reasonably practicable'.

Section 112 alterations to existing buildings - online

This course from the 2025 Advanced Series is designed to help participants increase understanding, apply consistently and avoid common pitfalls with Section 112 - one of the most applied sections of the Building Act 2004. The course covers: triggers, escape from fire and access upgrading requirements, the ANARP test, meaning of 'continue to apply', Section 112 (2), balancing benefits and detriments and 'what not to do-s'.

Difficult to Consent - Online Zoom

The Difficult to Consent provides guidance on New Zealand's regulatory system and how to apply it beyond the normal bounds of typical residential, commercial, and industrial construction. This includes Building Control consideration of Regulatory requirements for boats, vehicles, yurts, and shipping containers, as well as off-site and off-shore prefabrication, modular construction, and transportable buildings construction methodology that challenges our traditionally accepted compliance pathway.
