Changes to Acceptable Solutions and Verification Method for Protection from Fire and Back country Huts

17 March 2014

The consultation covers:

  • Urgent amendments made to the Acceptable Solutions C/AS1 – C/AS7 and Verification Method (C/VM2) on 19 December 2013, which are now being consulted on, and
  • Further changes to the Acceptable Solutions C/AS1 – C/AS7 and Verification Method (C/VM2) for Protection from Fire, and
  • Minor changes to the Acceptable Solution for Back Country Huts, BCH/AS1

The changes to the Protection from Fire Acceptable Solutions (C/AS1-AS7) and Verification Method (C/VM2) have been developed to provide practical solutions to remedy compliance issues that designers and councils are finding when they apply these documents to building designs.

Minor changes to the Acceptable Solution for Back Country Huts (BCH/AS1) are proposed to reflect changes that have come into force with the recent Building Code clauses C1-C6 Protection from Fire.

Details of the proposals can be downloaded at www.dbh.govt.nz/consultingon-protection-from-fire-2014.

Consultation closes on Friday 9th May 2014.
