Guest Presentation 1:
Craig White, Carter Holt Harvey Technical Support Manager - Regulatory Compliance and Systems Development for Carter Holt Harvey, Craig has worked in the industry for many years, was trained by Adam Modica (CCC), has been a BCO and has his Reg 18 qualification.
Craig provided general updates for nailing patterns now aligned with GIB systems
- Ecoply bracing Sept 2025
- Ecoply barrier June 2025
Tokoroa plant now closed with all ply sheets now imported from Austrailia with pine long boards and a eucalyptus core
CHH started working towards MMC alongside their frame & truss plants for panelised construction with expansion of the floor cassette systems to reduce build times on site, internal engineering for PS1 to be issued with each build, modular sizing generally 2.4/2.7 (stud height) but up to 6m long wall panels. Panels have been BERANZ tested, can stackbond the cassettes,, pattern and fastening is specific to each panel with onsite connections agreed and designed prior to fabrication, minimises waste and utilises sheet sizes. If you can draw it they can fabricate it.
QA considerations – site supervision, formalised acceptance of shop drawings for installation, inspection plan for concealed elements, Storage/Delivery/Transport/Install = Carters PS4. They have an MOU with Auckland City Council for panelised construction QA form completed and provided with the PS4, Factory inspections and photos are reviewed by the engineer for PS$, all framing is LVL/SG8.
All MMC should be identified as such on consent application drawings and as part of framing, floor/wall/roof specifications.
Inspections are tailored to capture onsite elements – panel/cassette connections, top plate butt joints, steel beams & any additional components
Frame & truss plants are selected and trained to ensure QA is followed & PS4 able to be issued
Craig can potentially arrange a site visit for us when we have one being assembled in Canterbury.
