Welcome:

Waikato/Bay of Plenty Branch Chair, Kevin Duthie welcomed everyone to the Branch Networking and Training day. The meeting started with the site tour and moved into the meeting and guest presentations.

Board Update:

Jeff Farrell provided an update from the Board.

  • AGM will be held online this year on 14th May
  • Under the new constitution there will be board elections this year for 2 Board representatives.
  • 2024 was a busy year for submissions with BOINZ completing 5 submissions. We have a H1 submission due at the end of February, if you have any comments, please send these to Nick Hill, Chief Executive at – ea@boinz.org.nz
  • There is a review for CPD happening – there will be a consultation with members on this in March.
  • The BOINZ Annual Symposium will be held in Christchurch on 26 - 28 May. Registrations are now open.
  • Excellence Awards – nominations are now open. It is important to recognise your peers so if you know someone deserving then please nominate them.
  • The 2025 BOINZ Training Prospectus for building surveying professionals was published in December.
  • Straight Up is out – please let us know if there are any topics you would like to see included, or if you have any suggestions please let us know.

Dan Reynolds, Technical Training Advisor for Winstone Wallboards.

Jarred McDowell, Lead Technical Specialist for Tauranga City Council.

Jarred was on the inspection team for the build of the Winstone Wallboard site and talked the group through the inspection process involved for a site of this scale.

 

Kevin Duthie thanked those who attended the meeting, Winstone Wallboards for hosting, Dan Reynolds for his presentation and Jared McDowell for talking members through the inspections process.
