  • No items were forwarded to the executive prior to the meeting for discussion.
  • No items were raised for discussion at the meeting.

Guest Presentation:

Nick McCrostie, Resene Construction Systems:

  • Nick introduced himself and gave an overview of his background and role with Resene Construction Systems (RCS). He has spent 8 years working as Territory Manager for RCS and is responsible for working with all parts of the sector including BCAs, designers and builders.
  • Nick discussed the history of Rockcote and RCS in Aotearoa New Zealand from its launch in the 1980s through to today.
  • He discussed the different products and systems that RCS offer ranging from plaster cladding systems, intertenancy fire and acoustic rated wall systems, interior finishes and solutions for insulated foundation/slab edges. He showed details of some of the key products and some case study videos explaining how they can be used.
  • Nick presented on the different type of wall cladding systems that are available – from the AAC panel systems, plastered EPS system GraphX through to higher thermally performing ‘outsulation’ XTherm Gold system.
  • Nick highlighted the internal QA processes that RCS implement and discussed what records and warranties are provided with their installations. He also highlighted the maintenance plan and scheduled reminders that are offered with RCS systems to support building owners in carrying out planned regular maintenance of the cladding systems. He noted that these records can be provided to BCAs on request.
  • Nick gave an overview of common issues/questions that are received by their in-house technical support team. This included a discussion of installation of fire stops in cladding cavities at intertenancy junctions, base of cladding at junction with insulated slab edges.
  • Nick showed members a new detail that will be released for a AAC wall cladding junction with a reverse soffit using a purpose made ventilated trim. It was noted that this detail is often problematic on site as builders install soffit boards prior to cladding installation.
  • There was a short Q&A session where Nick answered questions from members on the minimum qualification required for RCS cladding installers (confirmed as both an LBP and a licensed installer with RCS), what technical support is available for one-off details eg junctions with other cladding systems (confirmed that RCS tech team are happy to review and comment on details on request)
