Welcome:
Members were invited to a tour of Tūranga, Christchurch central library. The tour was led by library staff, and Mathew from Architectus and Scott from Powell Fenwick were there as design team members to answer technical questions.
Branch Chairman Richard Lorgelly welcomed members and guests as well as extending a special welcome to the event's sponsor - John Eastwood, Head of Business Development ANZ, XLam Australasia

• The Board report was received by email. Due to having two activities, there was less available time, so a copy was made Board report for members to read.
• Richard encouraged members to read it and he read out the section on BOINZ training.
• He also encouraged members to give feedback on any issues directly to National Office, particularly any feedback related to training.

• The next branch meeting will be on the 11th June, more information to follow.
Site Visit:
Tour of Tūranga, Christchurch's new central city Library. Mathew from Architectus and Scott from Powell Fenwick lead a tour through the iconic building. The four-storey building is filled with technology and flexible spaces, with dedicated areas such as a recording studio, a 3D printer and even a sewing room. Some of the members were taken to the plant room on the top floor, while the rest of the members were guided through the building by Rosemary and two members of her library team.
Guest speaker:
Xlam: John Eastwood
John Eastwood from Xlam gave a presentation on Cross Laminated Timber manufacturing (CLT) with an emphasis on regulatory compliance. John also discussed how usage of this building product for multi-storey buildings is increasing, and the difficulties that Xlam is having with meeting the demand for its products and the cost of raw materials.
