Welcome:
Branch Chairman Glynn Robertson opened the meeting, welcoming members, new members, and guests as well as extending a special welcome to the event's sponsor - Korok Fire and Acoustic Wall Systems
Because the 2018 AGM had been overlooked by the committee and it was not an election year, agreement was sought from members to run the 2018 AGM and any other general business at the end of the Korok presentation. The members present agreed this was an acceptable approach.
The meeting was opened with a one-minute silence to reflect on the Christchurch Mosque attack and to show support and solidarity with Muslim Members. All Members stood for this 1-minute silence.
Guest Presentation:
Branch Chairman Glynn Robertson introduced David Cornelius and Mark Gannon and handed over the floor to the sponsors for their presentation.
• Korok formally known in the marketplace as Speedwall completed a rebranding exercise, there are no other material differences between the products other than the name change.
• Korok Panel is manufactured in Hamilton and the factory is audited by BRANZ
• Korok have two panels available in the NZ marketplace, A 78mm BRANZ appraised system and a 51mm system which has completed its fire, structural and acoustic testing with a BRANZ appraisal expected shortly
• Mark Gannon took the membership through the various fire, structural and acoustic tests that Korok panel has undergone.
• David took the membership through the variety of uses for Korok's fire and acoustic systems which included:
o Warehouses
o Factories & retail uses
o Cinemas, auditoriums and film studios
o Lift shafts
o Riser ducts and stairs
o External boundary walls
o Multi-level apartments
o Hotels and age care facilities
o Terrace housing IT walls
• Mark presented a sample case using the recent 3 storey fire at a Hobsonville Terrace Housing Development
• Korok's IT Wall System performed very well and as expected from the extensive testing, It achieved the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) by protecting people and other property. Please refer to the attached presentation for specific details
At the completion of the presentation the floor was opened to the membership for questions
Q. How does the product comply with B1.3.4 (a) because after a fire you would have to replace the Korok product.
A. In this respect, Korok is no different to every other IT wall system currently on the market in NZ.
The membership had no other questions due to the technical quality of Korok's presentation.
