Intermediate Specified Systems - Online
This course provides a valuable opportunity for BCA and TA staff to refresh and strengthen technical consistency, competency and confidence across compliance schedule and BWOF functions. This one-day course covers three key parts of the compliance schedule process:
- High-level Compliance Schedule Framework and Performance Standards
An overview of Compliance Schedules, including the information BCA and TA staff need to assess when compiling or amending them. The course covers how to identify appropriate performance standards, how those standards relate to each specified system and how complex interfaced systems are incorporated into building design. This component is particularly beneficial for processors involved in reviewing, assessing, compiling or amending compliance schedules. - Specified Systems Inspection and Compliance Verification
This part of the course focuses on specified system descriptions, inspection methodologies and how compliance is verified during construction. It includes the types of documentation and evidence that may be relied upon to establish reasonable grounds for compliance, along with an introduction to emerging technologies now appearing within New Zealand buildings. While this component has a strong inspection focus, it also provides processors with valuable insight into common compliance failures, recurring defects and lessons learned from real-world system failures. - BWOF Auditing and Ongoing Compliance
The inspection component of the training transitions perfectly to BWOF auditing and will help improve ongoing specified systems compliance. It covers common failure points relating to inspection, maintenance and reporting responsibilities, as well as how some interfacing systems should be assessed and verified during on-site audits. This section is particularly valuable as BWOF learnings can be proactively addressed at the consenting and inspection stage.
