Site visit and presentation by Frame Protection System (FPS Weathertight)

  • The site visit was at 7 Joblin Street, Darfield. Construction on site was a single storey residential dwelling with lightweight timber framing. The build was at pre-line stage with FPS system weathertight wrap installed to provide early close-in. Aluminium joinery was installed and roof cladding on but no wall claddings in place.
  • Attendees were given a presentation on the history of the FPS system in New Zealand from the company formation in 2014 through to the current operations. The product development journey and CodeMark certification was discussed and an overview of the benefits of the system i.e. moisture resistance and fire-retardant properties of the product, early close-in when installed as a weathertight system and ability to be used as a standard building wrap. A technical presentation of how the system is installed as a weathertight system was given and members were able to put questions to the team. The presentation was delivered by Grant Murray, David Stewart and Michael Garrett.
  • Members were then able to inspect the system installed on the site, put questions to the team and examine the finished system to see how it provides a weathertight building underlay system.
  • The weather during the visit was sunny and dry, so the team didn’t get to showcase the moisture resistance of the system, but conditions were typically gusty with a strong Nor Wester blowing so we did get to see how the system stands up to wind loads!

Next Branch Training and Networking Event: Planning underway for a meeting late May.
