General Business:
1. The branch was advised Gary Nicol (Christchurch City Council) following his accident had returned home and was slowly transitioning back to normal routine.
2. David Hutt (Christchurch City Council) – part-time MBIE Advisor gave an overview of his role and outlined the new structure of MBIE’s Building System Performance Branch. The Westcoast BCA’s were especially interested in understanding and knowing there was still a voice to which they could access support for any issues in the future.
3. Simon Percy (Westland DC) discussed the latest issues surrounding Container Builds using SIP Panel, Air BnB and Tiny House interpretation – at what stage was a Building Consent application required? A lively discussion from the floor followed – with David Hutt advising further, discussions were likely to follow given the increasing public demand surrounding Tiny House projects.
Special thank you to: Grey District Council for providing the venue and refreshments for networking.
Next Branch Meeting will be the AGM:
scheduled for 28 November 2017 at AMF Bowling NZ 15-21 Iversen Terrace, Waltham, Christchurch 8001 (a fun night to end the year, farewell the existing executive committee and welcome the newly elected committee).
John Blanken closed the meeting at 9.40am.
The site tours followed the close of the meeting.
