ANNUAL CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT

Date: 11 December 2024

To the Board of the Building Official Institute of New Zealand

Please find below the annual report for Auckland Branch for the year 2024.

As Chairperson of the Auckland Branch, it is my privilege to present our annual report and reflect on the achievements and activities of 2024, while outlining our plans for the year ahead.

Branch Meetings and Engagement

This year, the Auckland Branch has held six branch meetings to date, with the AGM being our seventh. We are proud to note that our branch represents 21% of BOINZ financial members, with a total of 226 members—the largest of the nine branches. Additionally, we welcomed 26 new members this year, further strengthening our community.

The highlight of our meetings was the March session, which had the highest attendance. It featured an insightful presentation from Thermosash followed by a factory tour of some of the most amazing façade production lines and assemblies.

We are now excited to report that we are gradually returning to in-person meetings, thanks to the support of High Performer Building and their team. All of our meetings this year have been in-person meetings (including some hybrid), which represents a significant step forward in reconnecting our members face-to-face.

Looking Ahead:

Our goals for 2025 include creating more attraction for the branch through consistent meetings on available platforms to reach even more members, both new and existing. We encourage feedback to ensure we are meeting your needs and expectations. Please have your say to guide our direction. We aim to conduct more site visits next year as we notice a huge interest build up for these.

Loyalty Awards: The board has decided to value and reward it’s members based on their loyalty and long term commitment to BOINZ. Medals will be presented to the long serving members. We are aiming for this meeting early next year.

Acknowledgments

We are excited to see Glynn Robertson and Ryan Stowers return to the branch executive team. Brent Goldschmidt who has joined us at a Board level brings wealth of experience with him and I am certain in the upcoming year, Brent will take us to greater heights. Jeff as usual, a constant support to us throughout the year.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our members, presenters, and the High Performer Building team for their contributions and support throughout the year.
