Course Introduction:

This brand-new offering for 2017 is designed specifically to meet the needs of New Zealand Building Surveyors.

A Building Surveyor’s responsibility is significant in respect of final building outcomes, in delivering the powers and responsibilities under the New Zealand Building Act. This course will empower the Building Surveying Professional to meticulously gather and treat the evidence to legally and technically achieve a burden of proof in a New Zealand court of law.

Content:

This course details each step in the Investigative and Prosecution process to establish what is required of a Building Surveyor to fully support a successful prosecution:

  1. Identifying a breach under the Building Act
  2. Planning your course of action
  3. Recording and documenting
  4. Identifying the liable person(s)
  5. Time limits
  6. The standard of proof required

For each step in the Investigative process a full and detailed explanation of what is required by the Building Surveyor to fully support a successful prosecution is given. The course will emphasise the importance of being thorough and disciplined in dealing with non-compliant activity with a view to delivering efficiencies and effectiveness in a burden of proof environment.
