Te āheinga: The opportunity

Wanting a chance to build your career within the building sector? Then our building team has the role for you. This varied role involves educating the community, onsite inspections, monitoring, information gathering, advice and legislative work.

Some tasks consist of:

  • Building Warrant of Fitness Compliance and Audits
  • Swimming Pool Inspections
  • Monitoring and Enforcement
    • Relocatable dwellings
    • Derelict and Dangerous Buildings
    • General By-law and Consent compliance support

We are looking for the right person so if you are limited on experience, we'd still love to hear from you.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will have enthusiasm for construction, a passion for design, like working with regulations and being part of a small supportive team. You will need excellent interpersonal skills to connect with the diverse range of people we support across the district. Your self-confidence, diplomacy and sense of humour will serve you well in doing this. You will also need an enquiring mind and the ability to analyse situations and information to make robust decisions, sometimes in difficult situations.

Previous experience in enforcement, investigations or a tertiary qualification would be great with a good eye for detail and being cool under pressure.
