Te wero – The Challenge

We are looking for a superstar to provide professional engineering and technical information into the resource consents process while delivering high quality services to internal and external customers of the resource consents; building consents; and compliance teams within the District Services department.

The successful candidate also provide mentoring to other resource consents engineers, collaboratively seeking win-win solutions for high quality outcomes and assist in ensuring consistency across the department and developing practice notes and procedures. Northland is the fastest growing region of New Zealand where consent applications are at an all-time high, with no sign of slowing down.

We are on the verge of notifying a new District Plan, incorporating new engineering standards and you could be instrumental in implementing these standards in our resource consent decisions.

I ā koe - About You

You will be able to inspire and motivate your team, drawing from your technical expertise to give guidance and support. It is essential that you have a suitable tertiary level qualification in civil engineering or associated fields, at the masters degree level or higher. Senior Resource Consents Engineer District Services Group You will have membership of, or eligibility to join, Engineering New Zealand, and at least five years’ experience in the field including three years’ experience working in development engineering, preferably in a local government context. Experience in working within the Resource Management Act Framework is preferred and a current, valid driver’s licence is essential. You will thrive working in a fast-paced environment, which requires you to demonstrate a solution focused approach to new challenges.

To be successful in the role you will need high level communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, as well a commitment to Council’s values. • Salary Range: o Grade 19 within Council’s salary structure ($102,184 – $120,217 per annum) A market allowance will be applied for the right candidate
