Te wero – The Challenge

We are a high performing BCA with 20 day compliance rates in the 99 percentile, we have experienced an increase in development within the Far North region and are looking for a person experienced in the building control industry who is looking to step up or an experienced Team Leader Building Consent processing to join and lead the team to undertake Building Control functions relating to processing of Building consents to establish compliance with NZ Building Act, NZ Building Code and any applicable Regulations

I ā koe - About You

We need someone who can work independently and who has the necessary attributes to process applications and inspect.

You’ll ideally have:

• National Diploma in Construction Management or equivalent or willingness to work towards a recognized qualification

• Membership of professional affiliated organisation e.g. BOINZ

• The ability to coach and train Building Control Officers

• Ability to implement and use the guidance information in procedure and policies in quality assurance documentation that form part of Council’s accreditation as a BCA

• Sound knowledge of the 2004 Building Act, associated codes, regulations and relevant standards

• Effective leadership and time management skills

• Previous experience at a local government level in the application of the requirements of the NZ Building Act 2004 and Resource Management Act 1991, with a particular focus on assessment of building design and inspection processes

• Willingness to comply with the BCAs quality management system

• Current drivers licence Team Leader – Building Consents District Services Group

• Proven interpersonal skills and ability to obtain collaboration and cooperation

• Retain technical construction knowledge with the ability to effectively communicate this knowledge

• A desire to get the best outcomes for our community

• A progressive mindset focused on continual improvement

• The ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships

You’ll be adept at using technology, pick up new systems quickly and be highly organised. The ability to meet deadlines and timeframes comes naturally to you, with a focus on the solution, not the problem
