We are looking for a positive team player to join our Building Compliance and Consents team here at Wellington City Council.

This position sits with the Building Compliance and Consents (BCC) team whose primary function is to make sure that buildings within Wellington are safe.

On a daily basis your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assessing building consent information for the issuing of Code of Compliance Certificates
  • Working with the Team Leaders and Seniors to assist with the issuing of Certificate of Acceptance and management of Notices to Fix
  • Assisting in and carrying out inspections and investigate complaints
  • Compile and maintain accurate records of all activities

Our ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the NZ building construction sector and the relevant legislative knowledge or equivalent tertiary qualification in the sector. You will be someone with excellent communication skills with an ability to suit your style for a diverse audience. For us it is important that you always put our customers first and maintain collaborative relationships, in order to deliver positive outcomes for our city. We are looking for someone with an eye for detail as a high level of accuracy is required in this role, you will also be able to understand the construction risks and risk to council in respect of the consenting and sign off process.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a positive attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced team environment where support and camaraderie is paramount. We are offering a comprehensive training and development plan for candidates with an entry level qualification or experience in the building industry.
