Are you ready for a new challenge?  Imagine being able to work as a Senior Building Control Officer in New Zealand's most amazing backyard…

The Mackenzie region is experiencing significant growth with lots of challenging and innovative construction projects so there is lots of opportunity to build your skills.

Act as Technical Leader and Senior Building Control Officer you will be responsible for providing high quality, responsive building code inspections and ensure that buildings and structures in the District consistently meet the requirements of the Building Act and relevant codes, rules and standards and that Mackenzie District Council retains its accreditation and operation as a Building Consent Authority.

To be successful in the role you will need to have:

  • Diploma in Building Control Surveying (or currently studying towards), or other appropriately recognised Regulation 18 qualification; or R1-R3 and C1-C2 processing/inspections competencies
  • Knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code and inspection/consent processes
  • Ability to read and interpret design plans and specifications
  • Familiarity with general computer systems
  • Written and oral skills commensurate with generating correspondence for, and engaging in verbal/written discussions with building owners and trade professionals
  • Full driver’s licence is essential
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
