Based in Richmond and reporting to the Environment and Planning Manager, your focus will be on leading a dedicated building team of 28. This is a high-level people and process orientated role, providing the opportunity to make a positive difference to the future of the Tasman Region. You'll also be responsible for ensuring compliance with Council's obligations under the Building Act and status as a Building Consent Authority (BCA), its ongoing accreditation status, improving our process and quality management systems, and delivering excellent customer service.

Professional in your approach, you will be an analytical thinker with the ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level. You'll bring your excellent communication, consultation and negotiation skills and will have a collaborative approach to your work which will complement your strong customer service focus. Most importantly, you will be an effective leader, who mentors and develops your team, while making a positive contribution across the organisation.

Additionally, you'll have extensive experience and understanding of BCA functions, hold a relevant tertiary qualification, and have a broad working knowledge of the relevant statues, and regulations of a Unitary Authority.
