Building Control Officer

The Whakatāne District Council is looking for Building Control Officers who will make a strong contribution to our busy Building Control team. As a valued member of our team, you will use your knowledge and experience to engage with customers and provide consistent and high quality technical advice on all aspects of the building consent process and the Building Act 2004.

We would prefer a qualified building officer with a competency and recognised qualification, however our main focus is to find the right person. The successful applicant needs to have a customer service focus and be someone who can fit into our team of enthusiastic and talented people, who like to have fun and make a positive difference to the community.

We have the flexibility to allow you to focus on your key area of interest, while supporting the wider team to undertake the full range of the Building Consent Authority functions.

• Have practical experience as a Building Control Officer, with a recognised qualification under the Building (Accreditation of Building Authorities) Regulations 2006
• Determined to go the extra mile and provide a high level of customer service
