Ko wai mātau | About us
The people at Whakatāne District Council love what we do because we do it for others, and that feels good. We work hard and we know it's important to stop and play too. Being one of the sunniest places we're always out and about making the most of the best beach in New Zealand, doing tricks at the coolest skatepark, taking the little ones to one of our great playgrounds or simply enjoying our amazing scenery in our safe and relaxed community. If you're ready to improve your quality of life and use your knowledge to improve the quality of life of others, then apply today!
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
In this role you'll use your relationship building skills and building control knowledge to meet new people and support their dreams to come true - be that a new house or upgrading their business premises. You'll get to be involved in a wide range of pretty cool building projects and also help guide and develop your peers to support their development. To do this you'll need strong technical skills and experience working in a BCA using the AlphaOne software. Your work will take you out on the road for most of the time, so you'll need to use your time management and organization skills but there's no traffic in Whakatāne so you'll arrive at your destination before you know it.
Ko wai koe | About you
You'll be joining a team that envisions being better together, so you'll be a team player that upholds the values that a bunch of staff developed together (see below). You'll have relevant qualifications and/or experience and you'll want to help your colleagues continue to develop their skills to ensure we meet community needs. We're a tight family that like to make sure we have the work and life balance right, to get the job done, celebrate what we do and be flexible to help meet our family's family needs.
You'll get access to a range of staff benefits including five weeks' annual leave, flexible working arrangements, and free-swimming pool access. You'll never be more than half an hour away from rivers, lakes, forests, beaches and great walks - most are just on your doorstep. We love this place, and you will too.
