From crystal-clear streams and magical forests, to epic biking trails and thermal mud pools, Rotorua has it all. Our city offers a raft of attractions and experiences for everyone and while we are honoured to enjoy such an incredible backyard, we're proud to say Rotorua is also a place where people live an enviable lifestyle, open up businesses, raise families, and support each other. Known for our community spirit and manaakitanga, we welcome you to our home. Nau mai, haere mai!

Join us and be part of our great Building Services team – we offer competitive remuneration, excellent employee benefits and working conditions.  If you reside outside of the region, we will also assist with relocation expenses.

Due to growth in the region we are seeking Building Consent Assessors to join our Building team and we are considering applications across all levels including those who have started or have a desire to work in the building control and consenting field as well as those who are currently working at a senior level or are looking for a pathway to becoming a Senior Building Consent Assessor.

If successful you will be joining our high performing Building Services team and you will be responsible for providing an integrated customer responsive approach to building control and consenting functions. Rotorua has the most diverse environment in New Zealand which provides a great place to learn for new assessors.

If you are a Senior Building Consent Assessor or are looking to grow into this level, we can create opportunities for you to develop and expand your skills in a new environment, you will be expected to mentor other team members, assess more complex projects and make sound and robust technical decisions relating to all building control and consenting functions.

Ideally you will possess a relevant qualification, however we will support you through this – you must be committed and driven to achieving this qualification. If you are a Senior Building Consent Assessor, you will have approximately 4 years  experience or alternatively, have experience working on more complex projects and seeking that next step in your career. You will be well organised and decisive, an exceptional communicator and driven to pursue quality outcomes.

We have a great team that operates in a busy and demanding environment, so we welcome someone with a good sense of humour and positive attitude.

Te Kaunihera o nga Roto o Rotorua (Rotorua Lakes Council) is committed to biculturalism and working in partnership with Te Arawa, our local iwi. We value staff who have an openness and appreciation of Maori values, te reo and tikanga Maori.
