The Role
You will play a key role in supporting Council to meet its obligations under the Building Act 2004, the NZ Building Code and relevant standards as well as ensuring our customer needs and statutory requirements are fulfilled.
You will assist in the application and monitoring of the legal provisions relevant to building control activities and responsibilities of the Building Team.
In addition, you will conduct internal audits as may be required and provide technical leadership in those areas identified in the skill matrix developed for Building Consent Authority Accreditation.
KDC will appoint at either Official or Inspector level, subject to criteria fulfilment.
You
Must meet all our demanding requirements as set out in the position description and as reflected in the market competitive remuneration package and including:
· A tertiary qualification (NZQA level 6) or equivalent relevant experience in the building industry
· Fully competent R1-C2 for building inspections and/or both inspections, processing and certifying.
· Current, clean full NZ car drivers Licence
· At least three to five year’s suitable experience within a BCA or similar in NZ
· Comprehensive working knowledge of the Building Act, the Building Consent process, Building Regulations, the New Zealand Building Code, NZ and Australian Building Standards, manufacturer's specs and related approved documents, or equivalent international knowledge
· You must be able to prove and demonstrate you have all the interpersonal qualities set out in our position descriptions
· Applicants must be permanently eligible to work in New Zealand to apply for this job.
Desirable
· Ten years’ plus experience in the NZ building/construction industry, preferably in widely varied building projects. Potential areas include design, draughting, plumbing, drainage, construction, construction supervision or any combination thereof
You must be locally based or willing to be based full-time in Kaikōura.
