The Hamilton City Council has a unique opportunity in the Building Unit for a Principal Building Inspector to join the team assist in enabling the unit to succeed.
This is a senior role in the team that reports directly to the Building Unit Manager. This position will act as a senior technical reference to the building inspection team.
To be successful candidates should have:
· Excellent understanding of the building code and Building Act and be familiar with all facets of the building legislation and the construction industry
· Res & Com 3 competency in National Competency framework
· A minimum of 10 years’ experience in building control environment
· Ability to work successfully as part of a team, being flexible between being a team member and co-ordinating teams
· Good communication skills, including writing clear and concise reports, and making effective oral and visual presentations
This role is just as much about maintaining relationships as much as it is about being qualified, knowledgeable and up-to date. You will need to be able to effectively engage with other councils and other council units, key external and internal stakeholders, customer and the wider public.

The recruiting range for this role starts at $113,000.00 per annum and could be negotiated for the right candidate.
