Building Consent Officer

The Waimakariri District Council is seeking to appoint a Building Officer on a full-time basis in Rangiora, North Canterbury.

You will work with a team dedicated to delivering outstanding service to customers inside and outside the Council. The primary function of the role is the processing of residential building work (R1-R3) for compliance with the Building Code.

You must have a Regulation 18 qualification, an eye for detail, a pragmatic approach to applying the New Zealand Building Code, and importantly, can work with customers to get jobs over the line. Ideally, you will have three to five years' experience in a similar role.

This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week worked Monday to Friday, ideally between 8.30am - 5.00pm.

Sound emotional intelligence, well-developed literacy and computer skills are essential. Being able to prioritise workloads is vital as is your talent to find solutions.

You will be a team player with a "Can do" attitude and be prepared to go the extra mile for our customers. We invest in the wellbeing of our staff and take seriously the happiness and satisfaction our staff have in their work. Ongoing training will be encouraged.
