Porirua City Council

Porirua's changing. Thanks to new housing developments, large scale regeneration projects and new transport links, it's rapidly growing into a diverse, well-connected city with big opportunities.

With all that in mind, Porirua City Council is rejuvenating and expanding to prepare for its future growth and continue to develop a resilient, liveable city for future generations.

As we shift gear towards operating in a high-growth environment, we need leaders who are agile, fast paced, problem solvers who will assist with implementing systems and procedures to support a more effective way of working.

As Team Leader Building Assurance you'll bring your leadership skills and solid knowledge of the building industry to our team. You'll be an energetic leader who understands the customer perspective and will improve ways of working through developing and engaging your team.

Your hands on approach will assist the Manager Building Assurance with the day to day management of the business and our staff across the areas of building consent and certificate of acceptance processing, building warrant of fitness requirements and earthquake resilience.

Wherever you've come from, there's plenty that will appeal. If you're joining us from central government, you'll appreciate the connection you'll have to the community and the smaller team: less red tape means that you'll see the results of your work quickly.

If you're coming from another local council, you'll be excited to grow your skills in an up-and-coming council; either you'll see us as a step up to a bigger council, or an opportunity to bring your knowledge and experience to influence change as we transition. You'll also welcome life in Porirua - it's more affordable than many larger cities, with the big advantage of being right beside the sea and beaches.

You should be able to see that this is an opportunity that could shape the direction of the rest of your career and if you want to play your part in building a future for Porirua, now's the time.

If you need more information please call Leonie McPhail on 237 1464.
