Christchurch City Council

To ensure our facilities meet the needs of the community, the Council has a facilities management team responsible for providing a shared service across a wide range of Council operated buildings including libraries, sports centres, service centres and community facilities.

We support a high performance culture and role model shared values. Our vision is to make Christchurch a city of opportunity for all - open to new ideas, new people and new ways of doing things - where anything is possible.

In this role you'll provide leadership, guidance and support to not only your six direct reports but across other units in the Council and to our external contractors.

Using your strategic focus you'll build strong relationships with key stakeholders, whilst overseeing improvement projects for the facilities service desk, and drive our delivery of maintenance services, contract administration, corporate accommodation, fleet and security functions.

In this role you're responsible for the operation of the facilities service desk function, managing work requests, allocating work to contractors, managing reactive repairs, renewals and allocating service requests to contractors. To succeed you'll be highly organised, have impeccable relationship management skills and have a keen eye for detail and superlative customer service principles.

To take on this role you'll have a degree qualification in facilities, business or property management or similar and have extensive experience in customer services/facilities management/contract management. As leadership is a key component of this role, you'll have previous experience in operational leadership and have the skills and ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
