Our Building Services team is part of the Environmental Services department, and are responsible for ensuring the safety of people living and working in buildings! As more people and businesses realise the benefits of living and working in Tauranga, we have been working hard towards supporting the sustainable use and development of resources, and delivery of our city's built development, environments and activities.

We are looking for an experienced Team Manager: Processing to join our Building Services team. Reporting to the Building Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Building Consent team in the delivery of the building consent process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, support and development for your team
  • Promote and maintain a culture that achieves a high level of morale within the team and encourages performance, productivity, openness, employee satisfaction and trust
  • Take responsibility for the achievement of key building consent and certification objectives and deliverables
  • Provide technical expertise, advice and guidance to both staff and key stakeholders
  • Review submitted plans and related documentation to make decisions
  • Ensure the delivery of the Building Consent Authority and related Territorial Authority functions as per the relevant legislation and regulations
  • Manage customer concerns and disputes on building consent matters
  • Present at seminars, tradeshows, and community meetings as required

For this role, you will have:

  • A relevant professional or tertiary qualification acceptable under regulation 18 (IANZ)
  • Established competency assessed pursuant to the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006
  • Proven knowledge, skills and practical experience in the building industry
  • Considerable experience in leading a team within a building regulatory related environment
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and excellent time management skills
  • The ability to provide advice to a wide range of clients relating to a variety of building projects
  • Customer-centric approach
  • A focus on business improvement
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer software is preferred.
  • Current Full Drivers Licence
