He angitūtanga: The opportunity
The Building Control department ensures there is a strong focus on customer-centric delivery and provides first-rate business services. We have a number of roles based in various locations within the Project Assessment team.
You will have the opportunity to enhance customer value and business performance through the effective provision of building and development related information, advice and consents to customers.
Your main role responsibility will be to provide an effective and efficient building consent lodgment, and minor consent processing services for our customers, ensure that building consent applications include all relevant information to guarantee the applications are processed effectively and in a timely manner and receive building related applications and ensure they are assessed on adequacy for acceptance; then accepted or rejected in a timely and customer centric manner.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will have the chance to put your understanding of the New Zealand Building Code and the Building Act 2004 to good use as well as having sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and the New Zealand Building Codes. Ideally, you will have a recognized bachelor’s Degree in construction management, engineering technology, construction engineering or a similar qualification in Engineering or Architecture acceptable under Reg 18 (Accreditation of Building Consent Authority Regulations) and previous experience in building consent processing area would be an added advantage. Demonstrating a good level of computer literacy is required to enable effective production of reports, monitoring and statistical information and information access as well as excellent oral and written verbal communication skills and a high level of change engagement in the interests of ongoing improvements to the workplace are essential.
