Our Building Services team is part of the Environmental Services department, and is responsible for ensuring the safety of people living and working in buildings! We are looking for an exceptional Project Manager Lead to join our team and hit-the-ground-running! Managing the Principal Building Officers, this is an important role in the business where you will be responsible for investigating and managing escalated issues identified onsite, and project manage such jobs to ensure all work complies with the NZ Building Code.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the team in managing historical Code Compliance, WHRS, Reclads, Exemptions, CPU's, COAs, NTF, Territorial Authority responsibilities
  • Provide high-level technical expertise and advice around residential and commercial inspections
  • Review and implement new policies, procedures, practice notes and guidance documents alongside the Quality and Policy Manger
  • Mentor, guide and advise colleagues to support their development
  • Lead and project manage strategic initiatives as required

For this role, you will have;

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience within Building Control in Local Government
  • Proven knowledge, skills and practical experience in the building industry
  • Considerable experience in leading a team within a building regulatory related environment
  • Sound knowledge of relevant building legislation
  • The ability to effectively provide advice to a wide range of clients relating to a variety of projects
  • A problem-solving and business improvement focus
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Knowledge of quality systems and computer data-base systems is preferred but not essential
