Are you looking to join our very busy building team to help meet the high demands of development growth in Palmerston North and Feilding? We are looking for a two Building officers who can undertake building inspections or process building consent applications (ideally; both) and maintain suitable records.

It’s a big responsibility signing off building consents, and one that we take very seriously. As a member of the Building Services team, you’ll also be applying your knowledge of the Building Act and other relevant legislation, to ensure that the building work done around the area is safe and to a reasonable level of quality.

You’ll be reliant on your good communication skills coupled with a customer focus in order to ensure that those that you are working with, from developers to members of the public, can understand their rights and obligations under Building legislation. It will mean that you’re also comfortable relating to a wide range of people and in a large variety of environments. We also provide services to the Manawatu District Council (Feilding based) so you will need to be comfortable working at either location.

You’ll enjoy life in a city known as an innovative business centre; where housing is affordable, and you’ll have all the benefits of a large city, but without the traffic! You’re also only two hours’ drive from Hawkes Bay, Wellington and ski fields.

We’re seeking applications from those who have a strong interest in continuing their building control career backed up with a suitable qualification (e.g. Diploma in Building Controls Surveying), and with at least two years’ experience processing and /or inspecting project work. You will also have a good level of computer skills and be able to learn new software with little difficulty. It’s also important that you have a reasonable level of fitness as you may be required to walk around building sites, climb ladders, and manoeuvre in small spaces when inspecting.

If this sounds like you then we want to hear from you today!

Applications close: 11.00 pm, Tuesday 9 June 2020

We are an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and welcome applications from all those suitably qualified for this position.
