Part of this response is accepting digital building consent applications, streamlining our processes so time is spent on value-adding activities, and creating this Team Leader position dedicated to managing Building Consents processing.   Working alongside a Team Leader Building Inspections and a Team Leader Administration, this role will focus on providing both people and technical leadership.

About you

We’re seeking a seasoned professional who has experience working with the Building Act, Resource Management Act and ideally has a local government background.  It is a requirement that you have a Degree in Construction/Design field or equivalent, or a National Diploma in Construction Management or equivalent. We're looking for someone with previous experience at a Local Government level in the application of the requirements of the Building Act 2004 and associated building codes. You'll also have experience working within a competency framework.  Your leadership skills will be evident – coaching, mentoring, developing people – as will be your ability to work well under pressure.  You’ll need to have the confidence to lead through a period of change, and the ability to maintain collaborative relationships with others across the industry and within the Council.
