Waikato Local Authority Shared Services

Who is Waikato Local Authority Shared Services (WLASS)?

We are a company owned by councils in Waikato. We support those councils to improve customer service, improve their own performance and reduce costs. Our vision is

Waikato councils working together to shape happier communities and staff, and forge effective councils.

We are a small team with big ambitions. We work hard to provide value to our shareholders and their teams, and we pride ourselves on our inclusive and fun culture.

The Waikato Building Consent Group (WBCG) is a cluster of eight Waikato Councils, and is a part of the WLASS family. Our goal is to work together to improve collaboration and consistency in building control functions, processes, and documentation, providing an excellent and consistent customer centric service across the Waikato region.

Each council in the WBCG is a Building Consent Authority (BCA) and to maintain their BCA accreditation Councils must demonstrate that they have the necessary competencies, processes and systems in place to carry out consenting and inspecting duties.

The WBCG achieves this through a collective Quality Management System (QMS).

About the role

The purpose of the newly established Quality and Compliance Manager is to take a leadership role in supporting the Waikato Building Consent Group (WBCG) to maintain their BCA accreditation, achieving a high-performance status through continuous improvement and management of the WBCG Quality Management System.
