Our region is experiencing high growth which offers an array of opportunities for motivated and experienced senior building control professionals or those looking to take the next step up. 

While providing a high level of customer service, you will have achieved R3 and C3 competency and be able to undertake building consent functions to support the team. 

The role involves responsibility for advising and assisting clients on building consent matters and being available to assist your team through your experience and knowledge, and be involved with the ongoing training and mentoring of other building services staff. 

Senior Building Control Officers will work on a regular rostered basis between consent processing, inspections and responding to customer requests for service and information, so it is important you are proficient in all of these areas. 

ABOUT YOU: 

To be considered for this role you will:

Be looking to take the next step up in your career as a Senior Building Control Officer, with at least 5 years experience as a Building Control Officer. 

Demonstrate experience in a wide range of building control functions; including processing building consent applications and undertaking inspections out in the field. 

You will hold significant experience in processing and inspecting complex building projects. 

Possess a good level of current technical building knowledge and current competency assessment, up to R3 and C3. 

Have a strong knowledge of the NZ Building Act 2004, Building Code, BCA Accreditation Regulations and other relevant legislation. 

Be a good communicator who can build and maintain relationships. You’ll use your knowledge and experience to engage with customers and provide consistent and high level technical advice. Your ability to make sound decision and your working knowledge of the Building Act and NZ Building Code will be crucial in this role. 

Hold a complying qualification for building control surveying under BCA Accreditation Regulation 18.
