Waitaki District Council

We are looking for a motivated and energetic team player to deliver a great customer experience whilst providing assurance that our regulatory obligations in Building Control are achieved.

You will be responsible for undertaking monitoring and compliance activities and the development of building control policies and procedures.

To be successful you will need:

  • To engage, build and influence relationships with stakeholders and team members.
  • Be solution focused, with a proven history of delivering positive outcomes.
  • Be confident to lead work-streams as required.
  • Be able to balance the need for regulatory outcomes with good customer service.

Previous experience in Building Control / Compliance is beneficial but not essential if you can demonstrate the ability to learn fast, retain knowledge and make good decisions.

Primarily an office based role there will be a requirement for some field work and direct customer engagement.

Waitaki is one of New Zealand's most vibrant on-the-grow districts and home to great lakes, ski fields, cycle trails, epic tramping, fishing and hunting, surf beaches and so much more. In 2020 Oamaru was voted the most welcoming town in New Zealand by Bookings.com. Add to this affordable housing, great schools and a real sense of community with no traffic jams!

Interested? Then we would like to hear from you.
