Cadet Programme

There is a general skills shortage within New Zealand's Construction and Building sector. Building Surveying plays an integral role in the delivery of quality building outcomes. As a sector, Building Surveying is also under resource pressure.

As a result the Institute is committed to a programme that assists individuals who see opportunity and value in a Building Surveying career.

Our answer to this is the development of a nationally consistent cadet programme in conjunction with key stakeholders. This programme will be a natural extension to our work on the National Diplomas in Building Control Surveying and our commitment to developing quality professionals to ensure New Zealand's building stock is compliant with regulatory requirements.

Strategic Aims

  • Establish a vocational skills pathway through a cadetship programme for building surveyors in New Zealand.
  • To enable cadets to recognise and gain access to a wide range of high quality learning programmes both formal and based on partnerships with industry stakeholders that deliver up to date, innovative and necessary learning methodology.
  • To offer a solution to the predicated skill shortage to the sector.
